このプロジェクトについて

「太田亨プロジェクト」は、「写真家太田亨（1961～2016）」の作品整理を目的としたWebサイトです。

彼は、アジアの宗教や祭、そこに息づく人々の暮らしや伝統・文化などを数多くフィルムに収めてきました。

2017年6月からご家族と共に、故人と親しかった有志数名で、膨大な量の写真の保管・整理を進めて参りましたが、さらに情報を得るべく、広く一般に公開するものです。

About the Project

The Toru Ota Project is a website dedicated to collecting and organizing all works by photographer Toru Ota (1961-2016).

Through film, he captured hundreds of religions and festivals throughout Asia as well as the rich tapestry of its people, traditions and different cultures throughout.

Beginning in June of 2017 a group of dedicated volunteers and family members have organized his vast archive of film images and slides with the hopes of sharing Toru’s gift posthumously and obtaining more information about his images.

We are seeking any information on his photographs. Any bit of info helps, such as the country, region, festival, or names of temples. Please share this in the “Leave a Comment” section below each photograph.
Comments will be posted after administrator approval; therefore they may take some time to appear.
We kindly ask if commenters can leave both the correct Japanese and English spelling of the location in the comment section, as we will also be tagging each photograph with its location(s).
The website will be regularly updated based on incoming comments and new information.

画質について

アップした写真は、生前本人が整理していた、282枚のフィルムプリザーバー（フィルムマウントを収めるためのシート）をそのままスキャンしたものです。
そのため画質も悪く、ホコリやゴミなどもあり、シートによって明るさもまちまちです。

On the images:

The photographs themselves are scanned from 282 archival storage sheets and therefore may have dust, damage and varying brightness. (To see final complete works, please click on the “Photo Asia” link to see what Toru uploaded on his site prior to his death)
