太田さんが35mmのフィルムをライトボックスの上でチョキチョキしている姿が懐かしいです。
写真はさることながら、旅行先での話が面白くて、楽しそうで、「太田さんは日本に居る時よりタイとかに居る方が本来の姿なのでは無いかな」と思ったものでした。
太田さんが亡くなられた同じ日に70年間タイを治世されたタイの国王も亡くなられました。国民から多大なる支持を受け愛された国王の命日とやはり同じ様に多くの友人達から慕われた太田さんの命日が一緒だったのをただの偶然とは思えません。是非このプロジェクトを通して太田亨をまた多くの人間に知ってもらい、彼の写真に感動してもらいたいです。
I remember dearly of Toru leaning into a lightbox, editing and cutting up his 35mm film strips.
Listening to his interesting travel stories and seeing his photographs, I couldn’t help thinking that Toru would be a much happier person living in Thailand. King of Thai who reigned the country for over 70 years passed away the same day as Toru did. This was very symbolic since the king was greatly respected and loved by his citizens (and Toru) much like how Toru was loved by his many friends and coleagues. I hope that thru this project, Toru gains new audiences and continue to bring joy to our lives.
